We responded to an urgent call when several hundred chemicals were discovered dating back as far as the 1960’S in cupboards/ labs in a college.
The hazardous waste included:
Misc laboratory chemicals: Solvents, Acids, toxic compounds, oxidising chemicals, flammable metals etc
Animal specimens, Biological reagents. Picric acid which was found to be in a solid state and explosive.
We provided 2 chemists to segregate, list and package the chemicals into UN approved containers. Bioreagents and animal samples were packaged in to “Burn bins”
We arranged collection by a registered waste carrier with ADR trained drivers and transferred to licensed facilities for secure disposal. Full documentation was provided. Traceability and documentation from our Quality Management System allows us to demonstrate that we have relinquished the clients disposal liability.
Finally, we engaged a team of professional cleaning operatives to deep-clean 4 laboratory areas before returning to the students.
